    AIE - Automatic Image Enhancement

Xerox has invented printer software that automatically adjusts small areas in a picture, at a time, to correct contrast problems. This technique is called local contrast enhancement. Xerox has named their technique AIE - Automatic Image Enhancement. AIE will soon be found in xerox printers, and may be included in image enhacement software.

YOUR Version of Windows (including 32-bit or 64-bit versions).

MY preference would be a CANON (NON-AIO) Printer

Based on Ownershop & Reviews, I RECOMMEND THE CANON PIXMA MP990 AIO PRINTER.

Only buy a FAX machine if you can turn incoming faxes OFF

CONTRARY TO WHAT CANON SAYS, INSTALL ONLY FROM THE CD (NOT the Internet). I am not normally fond of AIO devices - they usually fall short when attempting to do everything. However, I bought one of these MP990s when my beloved I9900 Photo Printer Died. As Canon told me, the MP990 does print photos every bit as great as my old I9900 (although the MP990 maxes out at boarderless 8.5x11 Pictures. I found the MP990 for $130 at (free shipping)(new, sold by Amazon). Picture quality is excellent. Standalone Copying was excellent, I did have to make the colors a little darker, to totally match the original that I scanned. I have had it for only 3 days, now. Note - this unit does not do any FAXing, but it can be used as a stand-alone copier without needing to be connected to a computer. Copy Reduction / Enlargement = 25%-400% READ THE REVIEWS - Noisy, may sometimes print your one page output spread over two pages (that is not correct). I am so far using it from 3 computers, via an ethernet network. It does have a single port for a USB connection to a computer. If you use an ethernet connection, you have your choice of EITHER 1] Wireless (IEEE802.11g and will operate in the 2.4GHz), or 2] Wired Ethernetnet (but NOT both). The MP990 accepts "PictBridge" and can print directly from various memory cards, infared devices and has an optional Bluetooth connection. It uses Six ink cartridges. Compatible memory cards include SD Memory Card, SDHC , MultiMediaCard, MultiMediaCard Plus, CompactFlash Card, Microdrive, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick PRO Duo. The following memory cards can be used with the addition of a special adapter sold separately: miniSD Card, miniSDHC, microSD Card, microSDHC, RS-MMC, Memory Stick Micro, xD-Picture Card, xD-Picture Card (Type M), and xD-Picture Card (Type H). So far, I like it very much. Max. Paper Size: 8.5x14 inches Max. Resolution (Color): 9,600x2,400dpi Max. Should you get a camera that uses standard "AA" batteries (the size - the batteries themselves could be rechargeable or throw-away [dsicard legally and safely]), or a camera that uses a custom made battery? Cameras with custom made batteries will provide more pictures per full battery charge, and really advanced digital cameras always use a custom battery. While the custom sized camera batteries will give you more pictures per full charge, you have to ensure that they are always charged. I found that even with two such batteries, when those special occasions arose, the batteries were never charged and would take hours to charge, so NO Digital pictures. I finally got so tired of not having charged batteries when needed, that, for my more simple digital cameras, I bought cameras that used "AA" sized batteries. I use rechargeable "AA" batteries, but then if the batteries run out and I have no charged spare batteries, I use non-rechargeable batteries (you will probably have to buy Lithium-ion batteries to produce enough current to run your camera - check you camera's specifications). Most digital cameras seem to use custom batteries, but you can find very good, easy-to-use digital cameras that use "AA" size batteries. For sophisticated cameras, you will have to buy one that takes custom rechargeable batteries. NOTE - THIS IS LESS AND LESS TRUE AS TIME GOES BY

Do NOT Buy Camera Batteries/Chargers with only two Electrical Leads

WARNING: I bought some generic Batteries and Battery Chargers for my 2Ti, but ended up throwing them away. The OEM batteries now all come with three electrical connections on them. The Third connection is used to monitor battery temperature while charging and often other purposes. Thus units with only two connectors may work fine, BUT they are much more dangerous as they are more likely (might never) to catch fire and explode. Some Vendors are using more than Three connections. I suggest that you examine an Original Equipment battery and charger before buying replacements. Also, ensure that the new battery has at LEAST the same Voltage and Capacity (usually stated in mAh [milliampere-hour (mA·h or mAh)]). Battery Replacement Requirements - SUMMARY: 1) Has to be the correct size 2) Has to be the correct voltage 3) Has to be the correct capacity (OR BETTER) 4) In my OPINION, have the same number of battery "leads" ("wires"). I understand that NERO does not want to help music pirates, who does, but since NERO 7 seems to preclude making a backup copy of your own purchased, music CD, so you can use it in the car and (the same copy) at work (or for the kids), without causing any wear and tear on your original purchase, which is stored safely away, and not played: I CAN NOT RECOMMEND NERO 7, Unless you need something only NERO has. CAMERA SENSOR DUST BUSTERS: Olympus was first to combat the problem of dust on the digital camera's sensor, called sensor vibration technology, in 2003. Sony's new Alpha Digital SLR has a similar technology. Cannon has now introduced the most comprehensive system, EOS cleaning system. Canon designed the low-pass filter, separating it into two parts (reducing the chance for dust to get on the sensor), added vibration technology and feature that maps any remaining particles to remove them with software. DIGITAL CAMERA (Point-and-Shoot)(Digicams) REVIEWS, SPECIFIC

See also BATTERY TYPES FOR DIGITAL CAMERAS Tastes very. For myself, while I look at all cameras each time I need to buy one, I always seem to not like Fujifilm, nor Kodak point-and-shoot cameras. I usually do not like Panasonic cameras, although, this year (12/2009) I'm tempted by one of the Panasonic point-and-shoot cameras. I haven't liked Samsung cameras, but I will check out the Samsung HZ15W. I rarely find a Sony that fits my needs. This time, the Sony DSC-HX1 may do the job. BUT I bought both a Canon T2i, with an 18-200mm lens, and a Canon HF-R100. While I've had both Nikon and Olympus digital cameras in the past, these days I usually prefer a Canon point- and-shoot digital camera. Panasonic HDC-HS60 Camcorder - $589

Low Light Performance Summary Overall low light performance was one of the best all-around scores we've seen. Low light color accuracy was average for a camcorder of its class but the saturation level was very good. Noise levels were also decent, while low light sensitivity was better than most mid-range HD camcorders are capable of. OH-OU - SHOULD BE PANASONIC Optical Zoom: 25x 1/4.1?
