TURN OFF GAS?? H2O HEATER
TURN OFF INSIDE WATER in garage room
RUN HOT  AND COLD WATER IN ALL BATHROOMS UNTIL WATER RUNS OUT
THEN TURN ALL WATER VALVES AT SINK, BACK ON
  <<< LEAVE MAIN WATER VALVE IN GARAGE ROOM OFF
  >>> TURN OFF WATER MAIN AT SIDEWALK

TO RESTORE WATER WHEN GET BACK - DO THE ABOVE, IN REVERSE

TURN OFF GAS AND/OR ELECTRIC WATER HEATERS  !!!!!!!
The first method is to drain the water completely from
the pipes leaving no liquid in the pipes to freeze.

turn on all the taps in your home. Allow the water
remaining in the pipes to run out. When you're ready
to reverse the process, turn on the valve and open
the faucets, allowing the pipes to refill." - WRAL

Purchase a temporary patch kit as a quick fix for burst pipes.

       HOT WATER HEATER IF YOU ARE TURNING OFF ALL WATER 
       INTO THE HOUSE - AND ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE DRAINED
       WATER FROM THE PIPES (run HOT&COLD water from several
       sinks) Else YOUR WATER HEATER MAY OVERHEAT - MY OPINION
