IBM2109-Brocade-3800-switch-info.txt a Password Reset procedure for VxWORKS Based Switches, ( 2xxx, 3200 and 3800 ) was discussed here at several time, e.g. see follow Thread http://community.brocade.com/message/11901#11901 IBM2109-Brocade-3800-switch-info.txt How can I download the 'resetPasswd' file? If you know the root password, as default is "fibranne" log as root and try the command "passwddefault" The file and procedure you talk, "resetPasswd" is only valid for FabricOS v4.0.x and v4.1.x no other Fabric OS release can be reset with this File. to reset the password you need from Brocade Support a special Password Recovery String File, this can only be obtained with Active Maintenance Contract. If you are satisfied with the responses please mark as 'Answered'. If not, just let me know I can see to get more info. I would appreciated if you rate the threads. ======= 1. Re: 3800 Ethernet not communicating on the network Trudi Trudi Mar 8, 2005 7:07 AM (in response to Federated) Connect to the switch with the serial port and reset the eth0 adapter... Did you change the speed ? It's better to set the speed of the ethernet port the same as the network switch, but not auto-sense. 2. Re: 3800 Ethernet not communicating on the network Trudi Trudi Apr 13, 2005 4:57 AM (in response to Federated) Change the speed by ifmodeset eth0 and put it back to the previous value. Be sure to check on the ethernet switch that they have the same value than you on your switch. It's better anyway not to set it to auto negociation. 4. They may have the network switch set to not allow auto-negotiation as is the case where I work. The speeds/duplex settings need to match. Following up on what Trudi wrote, you can issue an ifmodeshow eth0 to see what you are currently set at. 5. Re: 3800 Ethernet not communicating on the network jcstroo jcstroo Apr 13, 2005 12:39 PM (in response to Federated) Hi Mark, We had the same problem a few times a while ago. We were able te revive the brocades ip interface by hooking up a laptop to the serial interface and use the ipaddrset command. We filled in the same ip adress, gateway etc and after that the switch was reachable again. Like the others said, make sure the network settings on your brocade match the setting on the ip switch. On our site there was a mismatch on the speed, after changing that we didn't encounter the problem again. Good luck with bringing your switch back on the network! ===== Re: Way to restart telnet on 3800's? -voni- -voni- Apr 28, 2005 2:49 PM (in response to shmac) Sorry FOS 3.x is VxWorks At VxWorks there is no task kill command or restart Only taskSpawn (ts) and taskDelete (td) Look at my Thread Thread But there is a way... :-) I found a Solution. My Solution only works if you can see the Telnet Session at inetstatShow output. Use RLOGIN from a Unix Station or Putty to Login as ROOT Run inetstatShow switch:root> inetstatShow Active Internet connections (including servers) PCB Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address (state)
